Our Annual Family Fun Day, celebrated families, neighbors, and the broader community. This year’s event is extra special as Mary Wade marks its 159th birthday, with an afternoon filled with laughter, connection, and activities for all ages.
Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) student volunteers played a key role in the event, engaging residents and guests in games, crafts, and interactive activities. Their presence not only added energy and excitement but also fostered intergenerational connections, allowing students and residents to learn from one another and build meaningful relationships.
Family Fun Day offers the perfect opportunity for attendees to enjoy time with loved ones, meet neighbors, and strengthen community bonds. Guests can look forward to delicious food, festive entertainment, and exciting games throughout the afternoon. A highlight of the day will be the Dunk Tank featuring Alder Frank Redente, Ward 15, a moment guaranteed to bring smiles and cheers.
In addition to SCSU volunteers, Yale School of Public Health students will assist with family-friendly games and activities, ensuring a memorable experience for children and adults alike.
“Family Fun Day is more than just an event—it’s a chance to come together as a community to celebrate Mary Wade’s history and our ongoing commitment to care,” said David V. Hunter, President & CEO. “We invite everyone to join us for an afternoon of fun, food, and fellowship.”
Programs like this showcase the power of intergenerational engagement and student volunteerism, highlighting how shared experiences across ages can strengthen social bonds, inspire empathy, and build a more connected community.
