Every year, residents of our Residential Care Home and Assisted Living Community look forward to a special tradition: attending a game at the home of the Yale Women’s Soccer Team. With cheers, laughter, and good luck wishes, residents bring energy and support to the players, creating a joyful, heartwarming atmosphere.
After the game, the players return the favor by spending time with residents, engaging in conversation, sharing smiles, and exchanging words of encouragement. These moments foster mutual appreciation and intergenerational connection, allowing both students and residents to learn from one another’s experiences and perspectives. Yale alumnus and attorney Larry Fox also participates in the video-making, helping to capture these special memories and show support for the team.
In the spring, the tradition continues when the team visits Chatham Place’s campus for a friendly kick-around and light refreshments. These activities highlight the value of celebrating each generation, recognizing the unique contributions each person brings to life, and building relationships that emphasize kindness, respect, and community.
Programs like this demonstrate how shared experiences—whether cheering on a game or enjoying playful activities—can bridge generations, strengthen social bonds, and inspire a sense of belonging for all involved.
