Yale Nourish Project

January 14, 2025 / By admin / No Comments

The Nourish Project is a student volunteer national organization from Yale University dedicated to promoting longevity, healthy aging, and social connectedness among older adults in local communities. We seek to do this through three key areas:

  • Increasing nutrition and exercise awareness: Research has shown that nutritional well-being in older adults decreases due to a variety of factors. By giving seminars on healthy eating and teaching accessible, at-home exercises, we aim to promote better eating and sustained physical activity, both of which are proven to reduce the risk of age-related illnesses.

  • Improving digital and technological literacy: We aim to bridge the gap between telemedicine and geriatric care by teaching elders and those with limited exposure to technology basic digital literacy skills that will allow them to meaningfully participate in online physician visits.

  • Fostering regular intergenerational relationships: Social connection is an important predictor of long-term happiness, but it is also true that the number of relationships a person maintains decreases as they age. Through weekly conversations, we hope to foster intergenerational friendships.
